YOUR INSTRUCTOR:
Dawn Wright, an assistant professor of Geosciences, joined the OSU faculty in 1995. She
earned an interdisciplinary Ph.D. in marine geology and physical geography at the University of
California at Santa Barbara, and has focused much of her studies on the
forces responsible for change along seafloor-spreading centers. She has done oceanographic field work at some of the most geologically
active regions on the Planet, including the East Pacific Rise, the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, the Juan de Fuca Ridge, the Tonga Trench, and volcanoes under the
Japan Sea and the Indian Ocean. Dr. Wright also works with and teaches about
geographic information systems (GIS). She grew up on Maui, Hawaii, but has lived in Oregon now for 3 years.
